Explaining What You Do
Do you know how to answer the question “What do you do?”
There are a few different ways you can answer this question.
You can simply say your job title:
“I’m a software engineer.”
“I’m a real estate agent.”
“I’m an HR director.”
“I’m the president of my company.”
Or, even better, you can describe what you do:
“I design security software for a startup in San Mateo.”
“I help people find their dream homes in the Bay Area.”
“I manage and train the staff at an accounting firm.”
“I oversee all operations at my company.”
If you want to use the second example, then you need to think of good “action verbs” to explain what you do. Here are some examples of action verbs:
design
create
manage
control
oversee
handle
organize
build
provide
assist
Now, it’s your turn to answer the question. What do you do? Tell us what you do by filling out this form, and we might add your job description to this list.
