Ovient English Test

The Ovient English Test is an important part of our private coaching program. It helps us determine your specific English learning needs.


The test is Online. You will need a computer, Internet connection, and a microphone to complete the test.


Ovient English Test

The test has 50 total questions and tests pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. After you complete the test, we will prepare a sophisticated results analysis with the Ovient Performance Graph™, an outline of major mistakes, and recommended learning objectives.


The test is included in our private coaching programs, but the test can also be taken independently.

  • A: This is an intermediate-level test. However, several questions require an open response, so the test is appropriate for students at all levels.

  • A: For most students, the test takes approximately 2 hours. However, you do not have to finish the entire test at one time. You can always save your progress and continue later. You will have one week from the day you register and receive your login to complete the test.

  • A: The test is scored by an instructor. This is important, since we evaluate your speech and pronunciation.

  • A: After you complete the test, we will give you a PDF file with your results. If you are taking the test as part of our private coaching program, your instructor will review your results with you. If you are not enrolled in our private coaching program or do not live in Silicon Valley, we will send you an MP3 audio file with a spoken explanation of your results in addition to the PDF file.

Instead of a point score, you will receive percentage scores so you know what skills are difficult for you. You will also receive a list of mistakes and learning objectives.

  • A: Yes, you will need to have a microphone attached to your computer to complete the test. Some computers have built-in microphones, which are often sufficient to use the tool. You do not have to buy an expensive microphone. An inexpensive microphone can often be purchased for only $10-$20.
