What are the 5 Communication Awesomeness® principles?
Since 2006, we have worked with thousands of people like you, from first-time employees, experienced engineers, sales and marketing professionals, and entrepreneurs, to investors, SVPs, CEOs, and celebrities. Each person we work with is unique, but nearly everyone has the same goal: to overcome the challenges to greater success and a more rewarding career.
We have identified 5 key communication principles that are absolutely critical to success. We call these the 5 Communication Awesomeness® Principles:
PRINCIPLE 1: IF YOU DON’T DEFINE WHO YOU ARE, OTHERS WILL.
How do your coworkers view you? How do future employers view you? Are you projecting the image you want to project? How do others talk about you when you are not in the room?
As part of your Communication Awesomeness® coaching program, we will help you define your professional image and give you specific strategies for cultivating the professional reputation you need to get ahead.
PRINCIPLE 2: YOU CANNOT BE SUCCESSFUL ALONE.
Does the leadership at your company trust you? Does your manager? Do your coworkers value your opinions and input? Do you know how to build strategic relationships with others?
You cannot be successful alone. Trust is essential. If you understand how others prefer to communicate and how to adjust your communication style to fit, you can cultivate trust. PRINCIPLE 3: CONTROLLED COMMUNICATION IS POWERFUL COMMUNICATION.

Communication is complex. The attitudes, experiences, goals, and frustrations of the people you work with should impact how you communicate with them. There is no single, perfect strategy. You must observe, adapt, and respond to changes in the room, in your audience, in yourself.

We will help you bring together multiple strategies and think differently and more strategically about how you communicate.

We want you to be successful. Knowledge is not enough. You must change how you interact with the people around you. You must change your routines.

How does the Communication Awesomeness® coaching program work?
- We begin with a free 30-minute consultation.The initial consultation will take place over the phone or video conference. We will learn about you and your goals, walk you through specific areas where the Communication Awesomeness® program can help you reach these goals, and answer any questions you may have. The consultation is completely free and there is no obligation to sign up for coaching. You can request a consultation here.
- We listen. Before the program starts, we want to learn more about you. This will help us customize your Communication Awesomeness® program to more effectively meet your needs. We will send you an onboarding questionnaire that will help us more fully understand your goals, strengths, and challenges.
- Communication Awesomeness® coaching begins. During your first meeting with your coach, we will introduce you to the 5 Communication Awesomeness® principles, outline your program for you, and give you access to your digital notes. We will also get you started on practical steps you can begin working on immediately.
- Coaching continues. Your coach will work with you for a total of 10 hours, typically meeting for one hour each week. During each session, we will discuss your communication challenges, review key principles, and practice essential strategies with you. Your coach will encourage you to come to each meeting with questions or observations about strategies you’ve practiced.
- Coaching concludes. By the end of your 10-hour program, you will have: 1) A new understanding and definition of your professional self, 2) A solid understanding of the 5 Communication Awesomeness® principles and the supporting strategies that can help you STAND OUT, MOVE UP, and WIN MORE OFTEN in a crowded professional world, and 3) A plan of action for reaching your goals strategically.

Is the program in-person or online?
For the vast majority of our clients, coaching takes place via video conference. We use Zoom, Google Meet/Hangouts, Skype, and other technologies, together with shared, online documents, to create a smooth coaching experience. We occasionally meet clients in person in Silicon Valley; however, due to our clients’ busy schedules, we find that video conferencing offers the best combination of focus and flexibility.
I just want one or two hours of coaching. Is that possible?
We want you to improve your skills and move toward your goals. We have designed Communication Awesomeness® as a 10-hour program, because we have found 10-hours to be optimal for long-term success. Once you have completed a full, 10-hour Communication Awesomeness® program, we are happy to meet with you on an hourly basis for ongoing support. Do you offer Communication Awesomeness® coaching for teams?
